SME Helpdesk Officer

Location:

Karachi

  • Qualification:Master’s Degree or minimum 16 years of education in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field from a reputable HEC-recognized local or foreign university.
  • Age: 25 - 40 years
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years relevant work experience

Main Job Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Provide direct advisory support to SMEs on the transition from informal to formal status, including assistance in business registration, licensing, taxation, and legal compliance.
  • Utilize standardized SME toolkit and SOPs to guide helpdesk operations and ensure uniform service delivery.
  • Identify and engage at least 40 SMEs (from textile and auto sectors) through a structured gap assessment tool and support them in developing individualized action plans for formalization.
  • Guide SMEs on accessing benefits of formalization such as financing, exports, compliance incentives, and production/service improvement.
  • Liaise with government departments, chambers of commerce, industry associations, and financial institutions to facilitate collaborative formalization efforts.
  • Organize awareness and capacity-building sessions for SMEs and industry stakeholders on topics including business formalization, just transition, and digital tools.
  • Contribute to the development of an Enterprise Formalization Training Module with supporting materials and conduct relevant training sessions for SMEs and their workforce.
  • Monitor and document progress of SMEs using defined indicators, compile case studies and success stories.
  • Prepare and submit detailed monthly progress reports and a final report capturing achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improving SME formalization frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of Pakistan’s SME ecosystem and regulatory framework.
  • Experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and one-on-one business advisory services.
  • Prior involvement in donor-funded or international development projects is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports, developing training content, and organizing events.
  • High degree of commitment, professionalism, and initiative.
